Economists surveyed by Anadolu Agency forecast 25.4% drop for April

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's unadjusted industrial production index is forecast to have fallen 25.4% in April, economists said on Wednesday.

A total of nine experts surveyed by Anadolu Agency projected a decrease compared to the same month in 2019, which did not face the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

Economists' expectations for the fall in the unadjusted industrial production index range from 23.3% to 28%.

The adjusted industrial production for April is also expected to drop 19.7% year-on-year.

In March 2020, the unadjusted and adjusted industrial production indices were down 1.3% and 2%, respectively, year-on-year.

The term "calendar-adjusted" is used to refer to data where calendar and holiday-originating effects are removed.

The Turkish Statistical Institute is due to release the official industrial production indices on Friday.
