Turkey condemns armed attack in Nigeria

Incident took place in Nigeria's Rivers state on Monday when people were returning from night church program

ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Tuesday condemned the deadly attack in Nigeria's oil-rich Rivers state which killed more than 20 people.

"We are saddened by the armed attack that took place in front of a church in the city of Omoku in south-eastern Nigeria’s Cross River State, claiming many lives and leaving several people injured," the ministry said in a statement.

"We condemn this heinous attack, offer our condolences to the people and the government of Nigeria," it said.

On Monday, gunmen killed 21 people, who were returning from a night church program in Omoku area.
