Turkey condemns deadly suicide attack in Somalia

At least 15 killed when suicide bomber targeted football stadium in Galkayo

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey on Saturday denounced the deadly suicide attack in Somalia, leaving several people dead including senior Somali military officials.

“We are saddened to receive the news that many people, including high level Somalian authorities have lost their lives, and many were injured in the terrorist attack perpetrated by Al Shabaab, which took place yesterday (18th December) in the Galkayo city of Somalia,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Turkey “strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack,” the statement said, extending condolences to the families of victims and the Somalia government.

“Turkey will continue its strong support to Somalia in the fight against terrorism,” the statement added.

A suicide bomber on Dec.18 targeted a football stadium in Galkayo, the capital of the central region of Mudug. The terrorist attack left 15 people dead and several others wounded.
