ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday condemned North Korea’s mid-range ballistic missile test.
“The launches violate North Korea’s international obligations and constitute a threat to regional and international security and stability,” the ministry said in a press statement.
It urged Pyongyang to comply with its international obligations and cease ballistic missile and weapons of mass destruction related activities.
North Korea’s state media on Thursday celebrated the success of a mid-range ballistic missile test conducted June 22.
The indigenous Musudan missile, which North Korea refers to as the Hwasong-10, could theoretically reach U.S. troops based as far as Guam.
Having been hit with strengthened U.N. sanctions for a fourth-ever nuclear test in January and a subsequent rocket launch, Pyongyang could now face additional punishment.
