BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Fifteen buses from Turkey arrived in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo this week, having been donated to support the city’s transport system.
The Mercedes diesel buses were handed over to public transport operator Gras by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
Turkish Ambassador Cihad Erginay attended Thursday’s ceremony with Sarajevo Mayor Ivo Komsic, Canton Prime Minister Elmedin Konakovic and TIKA coordinator Birol Cetin.
Turkey has donated a total of 45 buses and 20 trams to the city since last year in what Erginay called “an important project for the development of Sarajevo’s transport”.
Konakovic said the buses would run on new routes through the city.
