Turkey: GDP down 1.8 pct in 3rd quarter

Growth rate down from 3.1 percent in second quarter of 2016, lower than analyst estimates of -0.15 percent

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's economy contracted 1.8 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2016, the Turkish Statistical Institute reported on Monday.

This followed growth of 3.1 percent in the second quarter of the year, according to official data

Monday’s figure exceeded analyst consensus estimates of minus 0.15 percent.
