ANKARA (AA) - Turkey on Wednesday congratulated Poland on its Independence Day and said Ankara will continue to develop relations with Warsaw.
“Congratulations on the National Independence Day of our friend and strategic partner #Poland. Will continue to develop Turkish-Polish relations. We attach importance to our cooperation in the Visegrad Four+Turkey format,” the Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.
The Visegrad Group includes Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary and Poland.
An infographic shared along with the tweet noted that they established diplomatic relations in 1414 and that the trade volume between the two countries was $6.05 billion in 2019.
There is a total of 12,230 Turkish citizens registered in Poland, it said, adding that the country is the first destination for Turkish students who want to study abroad, thanks to Erasmus+ Program.
Poland is also the fifth country that sends students to Turkey through the same program.
In 2019, the number of Polish tourists visiting Turkey stood at 880,839, it added.
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu also wrote on Twitter: “Warm congratulations on the occasion of the National Independence Day of #Poland, our strategic partner and friend.”
