ANKARA (AA) - Two PKK terrorists were neutralized in northern Iraq, the Turkish National Defense Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
The terrorists, who were preparing for an attack, were found in northern Iraq’s Metina region through reconnaissance and neutralized by an airstrike, said the ministry.
Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralize” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
PKK terrorists often use northern Iraq as a base to plan attacks in Turkey, across the nearby border.
Anti-terror operations against the YPG/PKK will continue resolutely, added the statement.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
