Turkey offers condolences over deaths in Libyan capital

Fire, explosion at ammunition depot of Libyan Naval Academy claimed lives on Tuesday

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey on Wednesday extended condolences to Libya over the loss of lives due to a fire, followed by an explosion at the ammunition depot of the Libya Naval Academy.

“We have received the news with deep sorrow that on 19 January 2021 commanders of the Naval Academy and Naval College and one civilian lost their lives, due to the fire and consequent explosion at the ammunition depot of the Libya Naval Academy based in Tripoli,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“We wish Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, a speedy recovery to the wounded, and our condolences to the brotherly people of Libya,” the statement read.
