IZMIR, Turkey (AA) – A rescue operation was launched on Friday to save around 30 undocumented migrants stranded on an island off the coast of the Aegean Izmir province, security sources said on Friday.
The Turkish Coast Guard Command sent teams and helicopters to rescue some 25-30 foreign national migrants trapped on Bogaz Island off Cesme, Izmir, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
The operation is still underway.
