ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) candidate has been elected mayor of southeastern Hakkari province, according to unofficial results on Sunday.
Cihan Karaman bagged 59,75 percent votes while ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party candidate Cuneyt Epcim received 33,09 percent.
Earlier, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
