ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) candidate has been elected mayor of eastern Kars province, according to unofficial results on Sunday.
Ayhan Bilgen bagged 12,041 votes, while opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) received 10,812 votes.
Earlier, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
