ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) candidate has been elected mayor of the Black Sea province of Karabuk, according to unofficial results on Sunday.
Rafet Vergili bagged 25,165 votes, while ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party received 24,857 votes.
Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
