ISTANBUL (AA) - A group of Turkish nationals, who were evacuated from Tunisia, were placed under a 14-day quarantine on Wednesday as part of measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Their flight landed at Istanbul Airport, and the group was housed in a dormitory in Yalova province after health checks.
Turkey has so far brought home over 65,000 of its nationals from 103 countries, according to the country's foreign minister on Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, Turkey registered a total of 3,520 deaths from the coronavirus while 73,285 people have recovered from the disease. There are currently 129,491 confirmed cases in the country.
Since first appearing in Wuhan, China last December, the novel coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, has spread to at least 187 countries and regions, with the US and Europe the hardest-hit areas.
The pandemic has killed over 258,000 worldwide, with total infections nearing 3.69 million, while recoveries surpassed 1.21 million, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
