Turkish wrestlers win 16 medals in 2019 European Wrestling Championships

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish wrestlers in men's freestyle and Greco-Roman categories finished at the second place in the 2019 European Wrestling Championships in Romania.

Turkish wrestlers won 16 medals --- 6 golds, 2 silvers and 8 bronze --- in the 2019 championship which ended on Sunday night.

With 16 medals, Turkey bagged its highest ever number of medals in the European Wrestling Championships.

Turkey won two golds, one silver and two bronze medals in men's Greco-Roman category and three gold, one silver and three bronze medals in men's freestyle.

Turkey's Riza Kayaalp won his ninth European title and eighth in a row, while Taha Akgul claimed his seventh and Yasemin Adar won his fourth.

Turkish wrestlers in women's freestyle also won a total of one gold and three bronze medals in the tournament and ranked third.
