Turkey sees rise in transplant operations

Specialist doctors' conference hears Turkey has seen doubling in number of foreign patients coming for transplants

ISTANBUL (AA) - The number of people travelling to Turkey for transplant operations has doubled in the last two years, a specialist doctor told Anadolu Agency on Friday.

Turkey Transplantation Fund Board Chairman, Dr. Eyup Kahveci, was talking at an Istanbul workshop for the International Transplantation Network Project which was set up in 2015.

Delegates at Friday’s meeting also discussed ways to stop organ trafficking.

Doctors from Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Djibouti, Burkina Faso, Comoros, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya the Central African Republic and Iran joined the workshop.
