ANKARA (AA) - Hundreds of Turkish naval officers have been suspended amid a Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) probe, the country’s defense ministry revealed on Sunday.
An announcement carried on the Turkish National Defense Ministry's official Twitter account said a total of 168 commissioned officers and 123 non-commissioned officers had been suspended from duty.
Fifteen commissioned officers and four non-commissioned officers were also dismissed.
The suspensions come amid the Turkish government’s fight against FETO -- an illegal parallel state structure -- following a failed coup bid on July 15.
More than 240 people died and nearly 2,200 others were injured during the events of July 15.
