ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's Justice and Development (AK) Party on Wednesday elected a new parliamentary group chair ahead of the group meeting.
Ismet Yilmaz, a lawmaker from the eastern Sivas province, was elected the parliamentary group head with 241 votes of 287 lawmakers.
Yilmaz will replace Naci Bostanci, who has been serving in the position since 2018.
Yilmaz had served as the minister of defense, education, as well as transport and communication.
He was also the speaker of the Turkish parliament in 2015.
