Turkey's Borsa Istanbul climbs above 2,000 with new records

BIST 100 gains 23.51 points, or 1.19%, from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index ended with gains on Wednesday, climbing above 2,000 points for the first time in history.

The index hit another record closing of 2,004.55 points and the intraday all-time high of 2,012.14 points during the session.

Starting the day at 1,997.15 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 23.51 points, or 1.19%, from the previous close of 1,981.04 points.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,790.15 by market close, up from $1,781.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was down 0.04% to $75.41 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
