ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index climbed above 1,600 points for first time in history to close Monday at a new record high of 1,608.54 points.
Starting the day at 1,589.43 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 24.95 points, or 1.58%, from Friday's close of 1,583.59 points.
This was the third consecutive trading day that BIST 100 posted an all-time high.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,816.00 by market close, up from $1,786.10 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.6% to $83.23 per barrel as of 6.34 p.m. local time (1534GMT).
