Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at open

BIST 100 index loses around 1,350 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index fell 1.51% or 1,357.9 points on Wednesday to start the day at 88,285.81 points.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.8% at 89,643.71 points, with a daily trading volume of 9.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.6270 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, versus 6.5710 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 7.2940, compared to 7.1930, and one British pound traded for 8.2160 Turkish liras, versus 8.1680 at Tuesday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $25.40 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
