Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at midweek opening

BIST 100 index falls 47 points versus previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index decreased by 0.04%, or 47.32 points, to start Wednesday at 105,935.82 points.

On Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 0.57% to 105,983.14 points with a daily trading volume of 10 billion Turkish liras (some $1.75 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.7660 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to 5.7440 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3480, versus 6.3330, and one British pound traded for 7.4250 Turkish liras, while it was 7.4020 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $63.12 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
