Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at midweek opening

BIST 100 index rises 19 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.02%, or 19.06 points, to start Wednesday at 108,030.51 points.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed the day with 108,011.45 points, down 0.71% with a daily trading volume of 9.35 billion Turkish liras (some $1.61 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.8060 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to 5.8040 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.4410, versus 6.4340, and one British pound traded for 7.6460 Turkish liras, while it was 7.6640 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $63.99 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
