Turkey's Borsa Istanbul opens Friday on high

BIST 100 index gains 2.24 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,112.90 points on Friday, up by 2.24 points or 0.20% from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index had climbed 0.32% to 1,110.66 points, with a daily trading volume of some 12 billion Turkish liras ($1.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.5480 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, down from Thursday's closing rate of 7.5590.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.9460 from 8.9260, and one British pound traded for 9.8050 Turkish liras, down from 9.8140 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $43.66 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Friday.
