Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts midweek up

BIST 100 index rises over 99 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.11% or 99.88 points on Wednesday to start the day at 92,481.70 points.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.34% at 92,381.82 points, with a daily trading volume of 15.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.3 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.7750 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, versus 6.7500 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.3610, compared to 7.3690, and one British pound traded for 8.3530 Turkish liras, versus 8.3290 on Tuesday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $32.39 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
