Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts week up

BIST 100 index rises around 95 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.11% or 95.25 points to open at 88,628.65 points Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased by 0.17% to close the week at 88,533.40 points with a daily trading volume of 4.84 billion Turkish liras ($815 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 6.0240 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to last week's closing rate of 6.0850.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also decreased to 6.7710, versus 6.8480 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 7.8540 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.9360 at market close Friday.

The price of Brent oil was around $71.20 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
