ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,547.03 points on Wednesday, jumping 0.91% from the previous day.
Starting the day at 1,532,93 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 13.98 points from Tuesday's close of 1,533.05 points.
During Monday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,491.67 and 1,547.03 points, with 52 stocks on the index rising, 45 down, and three flat from the previous close.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.2 trillion Turkish liras ($128 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 29.9 billion Turkish liras ($3.1 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and carmaker Ford Otosan.
Shares of pipe and tube producer Erbosan performed the best, up 9.93%, while stocks of thermal power plant operator Can2 Termik dropped the most, 9.41%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,775.00 by market close, down from $1,788.20 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was down 2.50% to $82.27 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
