Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at open

Index rises over 460 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.48% or 462.71 points to start Wednesday at 96,493.19 points.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index slipped 1.1% to close the day at 96,030.47 points with a daily trading volume of 6.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.18 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.8350 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday from 5.8080 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 6.5860, versus 6.4520, and one British pound traded for 7.1790 Turkish liras, compared to 7.1550 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for around $59.56 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
