ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,399.34 points on Thursday, up 0.55% or 7.61 points from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index ended Wednesday down 0.29% at 1,391.73 points, with a daily trading volume of 20.2 billion Turkish liras (nearly $2.45 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.2700 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 8.2500 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 9.7300, down from 9.7400, while one British pound traded for 11.4500 Turkish liras, rising from 11.4400.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $63.50 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
