Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at Tuesday's opening

BIST 100 index gains 836 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index increased 0.73%, or 836.84 points, on Tuesday to start the day at 115,626.05 points.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 1.75% at 114,789.21 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.5 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 6.0780 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, versus 6.1590 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate slipped to 6.5990, compared to 6.6650, and one British pound traded for 7.8830 Turkish liras. It was 7.9720 at Monday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $56.20 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
