Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up over 1% at open

Index gains over 1,000 points versus previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 1.09% or 1,068.27 points to start Thursday at 99,124.74 points.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped by 1.53% to close the day at 98,056.47 points with a daily trading volume of 7 billion Turkish liras ($1.27 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 5.4770 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, from 5.4800 on Wednedsay.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.1540, versus 6.1570, and one British pound traded for 6.6750 Turkish liras, compared to 6.6710 at previous close.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $57.80 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
