ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party candidate has been elected mayor of the eastern province of Agri in local elections on Sunday.
Savci Sayan bagged 23,779 votes, while opposition Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) candidate Abdurrahman Dogar got 15,928 votes, according to unofficial results.
Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
