ANKARA (AA) - The ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party's candidate has been elected mayor of Turkey’s eastern province of Elazig in local elections on Sunday.
Sahin Serifogullari bagged 71,263 votes, while opposition Nationalist Movement Party's (MHP) Bilal Coban got 60,778 votes, according to unofficial results.
Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
