Turkey's ruling party candidate elected Gumushane mayor

Ercan Cimen receives some 8,000 votes, according to unofficial results

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party candidate has been elected mayor of Turkey’s northern Gumushane province, according to unofficial results on Sunday.

Ercan Cimen bagged 8,077 votes, while opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) received 4,933 votes.

Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
