Turkey’s ruling party candidate elected mayor in Duzce

Faruk Ozlu bags nearly 48 percent of votes in local elections

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party candidate has been elected mayor of Turkey’s northwestern Duzce province in local elections on Sunday.

Faruk Ozlu bagged 38,489 votes, while opposition Good (IYI) Party got 22,999 votes, according to the unofficial results.

Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
