Turkey's ruling party candidate elected mayor of Gaziantep

With 60 percent of ballot boxes opened, Fatma Sahin bags close to 54 percent of votes

ANKARA (AA) - Ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party candidate Fatma Sahin was elected mayor of southeastern Gaziantep province, according to unofficial results.

With 60 percent of the ballot boxes opened in Gaziantep, Fatma Sahin secured close to 54 percent of the votes as of 09.00 p.m. local time (1800GMT).

Her closest rival, Celal Dogan of Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) secured 25 percent of the votes.
