Turkey’s ruling party candidate elected mayor of Kilis

Mehmet Abdi Bulut bags 63.21 percent of votes in local elections

ANKARA (AA) - The candidate of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party was elected mayor of the southern province of Kilis on Sunday.

Mehmet Abdi Bulut bagged 21,162 votes, while opposition Nationalist Movement (MHP) Party Omer Yabanci got 14,605 votes, according to unofficial results.

Earlier, millions of Turkish voters cast their ballots in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
