ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s ruling party candidate has been elected mayor of northern Tokat province, according to unofficial results on Sunday.
The Justice and Development (AK) Party's candidate, Eyup Eroglu, bagged 34,810 votes, while opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) candidate got 20,076 votes.
Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
