Turkey’s ruling party candidate elected Zonguldak mayor

Omer Selim Alan receives over 24,000 votes, according to unofficial results

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party candidate has been elected mayor of the Black Sea province of Zonguldak, according to unofficial results on Sunday.

Omer Selim Alan bagged 24,739 votes, while main opposition Republican People’s Party got 22, 622 votes.

Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
