The Turkish central government’s gross debt stock totaled 9.6 trillion liras ($268.1 billion) at the end of January, according to official figures released on Thursday.
The debt stock rose 37% from the same period last year, Treasury and Finance Ministry data showed.
It includes the outstanding debt of public bodies, the Turkish Central Bank, private companies, and households.
While 5.2 trillion liras ($146 billion) of the debt was domestic, some 4.4 trillion liras ($122 billion) was external.
As of Jan. 31, the stock of Treasury receivables totaled 27.6 billion liras ($770 million), the data showed.
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was around 35.7327 at the end of last month.
