ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish central government's gross debt stock totaled 13.65 trillion Turkish liras ($315.5 billion) at the end of December 2025, official figures showed on Tuesday.
Treasury and Finance Ministry data showed that the figure was up by 47.5% versus the end of December 2024.
The gross debt stock includes the outstanding debt of public sector institutions, the Central Bank, private companies, and households.
Some 46.9% of the debt stock was denominated in Türkiye’s local currency, the lira, while the rest was in foreign currency.
While 8.15 trillion Turkish liras ($188.3 billion) of the debt was domestic, some 5.5 trillion liras ($127 billion) was external, it added.
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was around 42.95 at the end of last year.
