ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish central government's gross debt stock totaled 4.18 trillion Turkish liras ($222 billion) as of the end of January, according to official figures released on Monday.
Data from the Treasury and Finance Ministry showed that the figure soared 47.2% last month from January 2022.
It includes the outstanding debt of public bodies, the Turkish Central Bank, private companies, and households.
Some 34.7% of the debt stock is denominated in Türkiye's local currency, while the rest is in foreign currency.
While 1.98 trillion Turkish liras ($105.1 billion) of the debt was domestic, some 2.2 trillion liras ($116.9 billion) of it was external.
The data also showed that as of Jan. 31, the stock of Treasury receivables totaled 20.74 billion Turkish liras ($1.1 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was around 18.82 at the end of the last month.
