ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish prefabricated building company Karmod has installed container camp units to house workers at a hotel construction project on Tanzania’s Zanzibar Island, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The container camp, set up in Zanzibar City, will accommodate staff and technical teams working on the project.

Karmod Foreign Trade Manager Muzaffer Doggul Erguclu said the camp consists of nine separate blocks of container buildings with a total size of 2,390 millimeters.

He noted that the demountable design of the units allows for economical overseas shipping.

“With our new-generation system, we ship container units fully demountable, which provides significant freight savings,” Erguclu said.

“All on-site assemblies are completed in a short time with bolted and interlocking systems. Along with the structures, we ship all materials from Türkiye, including air conditioners, shutter systems, plumbing, lighting fixtures, sinks and taps,” he added.

The camp, which was completed in 30 days, includes office buildings, dormitories and dining halls, he said.

“Our team of four supervisors oversaw the on-site installation of the camp,” Erguclu noted.

“The facilities include two office buildings of 304 square meters each, a 366-square-meter dormitory for engineers, two dormitories of 608 square meters for workers, two dining halls of 94 and 73 square meters, a five-unit shower block and a 12-square-meter security cabin,” he concluded.
