ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish plastic storage systems manufacturer Karmod said it is ready to meet new government requirements that will make rainwater harvesting mandatory in large-scale public and private buildings as of Jan. 1, 2026.

The regulation, introduced by the Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ministry, is aimed at reducing water consumption and improving resource efficiency amid growing climate pressures.

Karmod said its rainwater harvesting storage tanks comply fully with the new rules and are already being supplied for projects preparing for the transition.

The company produces rainwater harvesting tanks with capacities ranging from 5,000 liters to 100 tons, designed for both underground and above-ground installations. Hotels, hospitals and large residential complexes have been among the early adopters of such systems.

“We were the first brand in Türkiye to develop and manufacture rainwater harvesting storage tanks, and we have been active in this field for more than 15 years,” said Talay Ozturk, general manager of Karmod Plastic Group.

“With the new regulation taking effect in 2026, demand is expected to expand rapidly across large-scale public and private developments.”

Karmod said it provides on-site technical support for projects, advising developers on the selection of underground and above-ground tanks depending on usage requirements. Its tanks are designed for long-term use in underground conditions, the company added.

The manufacturer has also developed tank models equipped with integrated machine rooms that house pumps and filtration systems, allowing full integration with grey water plumbing. According to the company, the harvested rainwater can be reused within grey water systems, as well as for landscape irrigation and fire water supply.
