ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish modular building company Karmod has installed prefabricated site buildings at a copper mining area in country’s eastern Erzurum province, the company announced Thursday.

The project, designed to support 250 personnel, includes three separate blocks consisting of an office, dormitory and dining hall in Erzurum’s Tortum district.

Yusuf Aktas, sales manager at Karmod Prefabrik, said the buildings were constructed with insulation systems tailored to the region’s harsh climate conditions.

“Our core principle at Karmod is to offer field workers the comfort of home with our prefabricated site buildings developed specifically for hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments,” Aktas said.

“Mining sites are among the toughest work environments, exposed to intense heat in summer and freezing winds in winter. When you add noise from operations, the challenges grow,” he added.

He noted that the structures were adapted to Tortum’s geographical and climatic characteristics.

The walls were built with rock wool insulation, while additional thermal measures were applied to both walls and roofs. Interior layouts were also customized to increase ergonomic use.

The project includes a two-story, 625-square-meter office building for administrative and technical staff, a two-story, 1,194-square-meter dormitory, and a 225-square-meter single-story dining hall equipped with a kitchen and meal area.

“We have completed installation of prefabricated buildings with a total area of 2,044 square meters,” Aktas said.
