EDIRNE, Türkiye (AA) - Two Fetullah Terror Organization (FETO) suspects were caught in the Turkish northwestern province of Edirne as they tried to illegally flee to Greece, a security source said Wednesday.

Border security forces detained the suspects in an operation carried out in the first degree military forbidden zone near the town of Ipsala, the source told Anadolu on condition of anonymity.

It was determined that the suspects were related to FETO.

FETO and its US-based leader Fethullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, in which 252 people were killed and 2,734 wounded in Türkiye.

Ankara also accuses the terror group of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
