Turkish gendarmes wounded in Mediterranean bombing

Roadside device targets armored vehicle on coastal highway in Antalya province, source says

ANTALYA, Turkey (AA) - Two gendarmes were injured Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded as their armored vehicle passed in the southern province of Antalya, a security source said.

Both men were taken to Akdeniz Universty Hospital in the city of Antalya, where they are in a stable condition, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

There was no indication of any terrorist involvement and the province, a popular tourist destination on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, has not been previously been targeted by either Daesh or PKK terrorists.

The device was detonated on the Antalya-Kemer coastal highway. An operation to catch those responsible was launched.
