ANKARA (AA) - At least two PKK terrorists were killed in airstrikes carried out by Turkish jets in the country's southeast, the military announced Thursday.

The air operation took place in the rural Cukurca district of Hakkari province, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement.

The PKK -- also listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015. Since then, more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists killed.
