Turkish jets strike PKK targets in northern Iraq

Jets destroy 7 shelters and several weapons storage bunkers, says Turkish General Staff

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish jets launched an air operation against the terrorist PKK in northern Iraq late Thursday, the military said.

According to a General Staff statement, Turkish jets destroyed seven shelters and several weapons storage bunkers used by the terrorist PKK organization in northern Iraq’s Zap region late Thursday.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU. During its over 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, more than 40,000 people have lost their lives.

Since PKK resumed its armed campaign in July 2015, more than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives.
