ATHENS (AA) - The Turkish Chief of General Staff met Balkan counterparts in Athens on Wednesday to discuss geopolitical stability in southeast Europe.
Gen. Hulusi Akar attended the 11th Balkan countries Chiefs of Defense conference, which ends on Thursday.
Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos addressed the heads of the military and stressed the importance of peace and stability in the region.
“Given all the challenges in the Middle East, it is very important that the Balkans serve as field of collaboration and stability, as well as a bridge between the east and the west,” he said.
Closing the second day of the summit, defense leaders signed a common declaration with the Greek Chief of Defense, Adm. Evangelos Apostolakis, addressing the rest of the leaders and stressing the importance of military cooperation.
